Dan Haren improved to 14-8 on the year with eight innings of two-run ball in a 4-2 win over the Padres on Tuesday night.
Haren finally finds a little luck. He was about to suffer yet another no-decision, but Mark Reynolds bailed him out with a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth. Haren was fantastic, limiting the Padres to just five hits while walking one and striking out four. It was his fifth straight quality start, lowering his ERA to 4.08 in the second half. He might not be bucking an annual trend, but he is certainly finishing strong.
