Nix, 29, hit .239/.291/.476 this past season with a career-high 15 homers, 26 doubles and 46 RBI in 309 at-bats. He'll no doubt draw interest this winter from teams looking for a reliable utility outfielder.

Laynce Nix slugged a grand slam in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday night.
Nix was just 1-for-18 (.056) with one home run and five RBI since returning from the disabled list on September 15. He is batting .239/.289/.475 with 15 homers and 46 RBI in 305 at-bats this season. The 15 homers are a new career-high, topping his previous career-high, set in 2004 as a member of the Rangers.

Reds activated outfielder Laynce Nix from the 15-day disabled list.
Nix has been sidelined since August 31 with a bulging disc in his neck. He'll bat seventh against Roy Oswalt in Tuesday's lineup. Nix is batting .251/.300/.484 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI in 283 at-bats this season.

Reds placed outfielder Laynce Nix on the 15-day disabled list with a bulging disk in his neck.
Nix was used as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, but apparently the pain is too severe to push through the injury. He will be eligible to return in mid-September. Nix has dealt with this problem for a while, now; it stems from a collision with Geoff Jenkins a couple years ago.

Saturday, Laynce Nix (stiff neck) said he hopes to return in a day or two.
Nix was scratched from Friday's lineup with the neck, which apparently is a long-term recurrence resulting from a collision with Geoff Jenkins a couple years ago. He was sent for a MRI.

Laynce Nix was scratched from Friday's lineup with a sore neck.
Apparently Nix has dealt with the problem for years. "He [had] a collision with someone a couple years ago," Reds manager Dusty Baker said Friday afternoon. "They never had it MRI'd. We sent him for an MRI."
