 Bobby Crosby-1B- PiratesDec. 10 - 12:41 pm et
Pirates signed infielder Bobby Crosby to a one-year contract.
Terms were not revealed, however he is expected to earn a $1 million base salary, with an additional $500,000 in possible incentives. The 29-year-old infielder could push Ronny Cedeno for the starting shortstop job in Pittsburgh, but general manager Neal Huntington is framing him as a utility-type, at least initially. The former Rookie of the Year batted .233/.295/.357 with six home runs and 29 RBI with the Athletics in 2009. He enters 2010 with a fine opportunity to reestablish his value.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates are expected to complete a one-year, $1 million deal with Bobby Crosby on Thursday.
The deal would include $500,000 in potential bonus money based on plate appearances. Crosby will battle Ronny Cedeno for the starting shortstop gig in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old struggled to a .223/.295/.357 batting line in 2009; perhaps a change of scenery will be beneficial.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates are expected to complete a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Bobby Crosby on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old hit a disappointing .223/.295/.357 in 2009, but he's a decent enough fielder and will battle Ronny Cedeno for the starting shortstop gig in Pittsburgh. The signing is fairly low-risk.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Pirates are on the verge of signing free agent infielder Bobby Crosby.
The Rockies liked Crosby's versatility, however he'll get a chance to compete for a starting job in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old infielder hit a disappointing .223/.295/.357 in 2009, but he could wrestle the shortstop gig away from Ronny Cedeno in spring training.

Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that the Pirates have engaged in "pretty extensive" talks for free agent infielder Bobby Crosby.
Several clubs have also expressed interest, but it's possible that Crosby could get a chance to start in Pittsburgh as they don't seem to be happy with shortstop Ronny Cedeno. The Bucs were rumored to have been interested in Adam Everett, who signed a one-year, $1.55 million contract with the Tigers on Monday. Like Rick Ankiel, Crosby is another example of a player who could re-establish his value with a one-year deal in Pittsburgh.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com suggests the Pirates will step up their pursuit of free agent shortstop Bobby Crosby.
The Bucs missed out on Adam Everett, who signed a one-year, $1.55 million contract with the Tigers on Monday, and appear to be completely dissatisfied with Ronny Cedeno at shortstop. Crosby ,29, hit a disappointing .223/.295/.357 in 2009 but is regarded as a solid defender.
