Cardinals manager Tony La Russa informed Khalil Greene Sunday that he will not be a part of the postseason roster.
Greene battled anxiety issues all season and finished the year with a disappointing .200/.272/.347 batting line, six home runs and 24 RBI in 170 at-bats. He's a free agent this winter and almost certainly won't be returning to St. Louis. La Russa left him with these parting words: "We’re all pleased he’s gotten to the point where he feels good mentally and physically."

Cardinals activated infielder Khalil Greene from the disabled list.
Greene hit .325 with four home runs and eight RBI during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis. The Cardinals will hope he can continue the hot hitting in the bigs and should be able to find him playing time at shortstop (and some third base) while Brendan Ryan (ankle) is sidelined.

The Cardinals could activate Khalil Greene (anxiety) as early as Friday afternoon, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Perfect timing. Greene is is 12-for-30 with four home runs and eight RBI in his last eight games at Triple-A Memphis, and the Cardinals need depth in the middle infield with Brendan Ryan battling an ankle bruise.

Khalil Greene (anxiety) is close to an activation from the disabled list.
"He's getting his work in," general manager John Mozeliak said. "He's feeling good and we're going to revisit it this weekend. There's a chance that we'll contemplate activating him shortly." Greene homered for the second straight game on Tuesday in a rehab start with Triple-A Memphis.

 Khalil Greene-SS - Cardinals Jul. 29 - 9:05 am et

Khalil Greene homered for a second straight game Tuesday in another rehab start with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds.
Greene, who is on the disabled list for a second time with anxiety disorder, will be re-evaluated Friday by Cardinals brass. "Given that he's doing well physically and mentally while performing well, it gives us an opportunity to reconsider his situation and consider having him back in the big leagues," GM John Mozeliak said. Remember Greene is now playing third base.
