The White Sox are likely to monitor bargains in the free agent market, reports Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
"As we stand right now, there's not anything obvious we need other than perhaps another left-handed hitter to put in our lineup," said general manager Ken Williams. "Whether that guy is a power guy or another on-base percentage, speed guy or some combination of both ... I don't know what's going to be available." With already $74 million committed to 12 players, Chicago likely won't be able to afford Chone Figgins, but they could consider bringing back Jim Thome, or pick up a veteran catcher such as Henry Blanco or Mike Redmond. |
