Rob Johnson (foot) is hoping to return to the lineup Friday.
The Mariners have been carrying three catchers since Johnson suffered the injury last week. If he is healthy, the team could send down either of his backups, Chris Burke or Guillermo Quiroz, and recall another pitcher for their interleague series against the Rockies over the weekend.

Quiroz takes the roster spot of Kenji Johjima, who hits the DL with a broken toe. The 27-year-old shouldn't have fantasy value while acting as a backup while Johjima is out.

Orioles released catcher Guillermo Quiroz.
Now 27, Quiroz is five years removed from being one of the top catching prospects in baseball. With a .201/.266/.269 line in 234 at bats over five seasons, Quiroz will be lucky to carve out a career as a backup.
