Enrique Rojas of ESPN.com reports that Blue Jays third baseman Edwin Encarnacion suffered first and second degree burns on his face during a fireworks accident in the Dominican Republic.
Encarnacion traveled from the Dominican Republic to the United States after suffering the burns, and visited a Miami hospital as a precaution, but should be able to resume his offseason training program in about two weeks. Encarnacion, who turns 30 this month, batted .225/.320/.410 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI in 293 at-bats with the Reds and Blue Jays last season.

Edwin Encarnacion hit one of three Blue Jay solo homers in a 5-4 win over the Orioles in 11 innings on Sunday.
Jose Bautista and John McDonald hit the other solo shots earlier in the game, but the Orioles eventually were victorious on a pair of throwing errors by reliever Brandon League in the 11th. Encarnacion hit .240 with eight homers in 154 at-bats since joining the Blue Jays. Both his position and future team are up in the air this winter.

Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run homer in his return to the lineup Friday.
Encarnacion was given several days off this week after complaining of groin soreness. He's hitting .238/.296/.406 since arriving in Toronto, an improvement on his batting line with Cincinnati.

Edwin Encarnacion was given Tuesday's game off after complaining of mild left groin tightness.
"Edwin's a little sore," manager Cito Gaston said. "He's going to miss [Tuesday's game], but we'll see what he's like [Wednesday]. Those things don't go away right away, so I don't know." Encarnacion is batting .238 with six home runs and 19 RBI in 39 games since arriving in Toronto and is expected to open the 2010 season as the Jays' starting third baseman.

Edwin Encarnacion hit two homers and drove in three runs in an extra-inning win over the Orioles on Tuesday night.
Encarnacion hit a solo home run in the third, then launched a two-run shot to close the gap in the eighth. He is batting .281 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 64 at-bats this month.

Edwin Encarnacion walked twice and scored twice in his return from the disabled list on Saturday.
