Jorge De La Rosa is "on the verge of avoiding arbitration" with a one-year, $5.6 million deal from the Rockies.
De La Rosa earned $2.025 million last season while putting together a 16-9 record, a 4.38 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 33 games (32 starts). The Rox reportedly discussed the framework of a multi-year deal with him in November but his demands must have been too high. Instead they'll go year-to-year with the 28-year-old left-hander until he hits free agency.

General manager Dan O'Dowd disputed a FOXSports.com report that suggested Jorge De La Rosa is seeking a three-year, $36 million contract.
O'Dowd said the reported figure was "a little high," while adding that the club is much more likely to offer a one-year contract to De La Rosa, who is arbitration-eligible. The 28-year-old left-hander was 16-9 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 33 games (32 starts) while earning $2 million in 2009.

Jorge De La Rosa (groin) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday.
De La Rosa has already been ruled out for the NLDS because of a strained right groin, but he can make his case for a spot on the second-round roster with a strong showing Saturday. "It's getting better now," he said. "I think I will be ready (if the Rockies move on)."

According to Gordon Edes of Yahoo.com, Jorge De La Rosa (groin) will miss the NLDS.
De La Rosa, who left his final start of the year with a tight right groin, apparently didn't show the Rockies enough during his Tuesday bullpen session. He'll be re-evaluated should the Rockies advance to the NLCS. With that in mind, Ubaldo Jimenez will start Game 1 against the Phillies, with Aaron Cook and Jason Hammel likely to follow. Jason Marquis will pitch out of the bullpen.

Jorge De La Rosa (groin) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday to determine his readiness for a start in the NLDS.
De La Rosa left his final start of the regular season Saturday with tightness in his right groin. "If he's able to throw a bullpen (session)," manager Jim Tracy said, "there's a good chance he factors into the mix. But we don't have a definite answer yet." For what it's worth, De La Rosa is feeling optimistic.

Jorge De La Rosa has been diagnosed with tightness in his right groin.
De La Rosa departed his Saturday start in the fourth inning and will be reexamined Sunday to determine if there's a strain. If he's forced to miss the NLDS, the Rockies are likely to go with Jason Hammel.
