Blue Jays signed Jeremy Reed to a minor league contract.
He'll also receive an invite to Spring Training. Reed, 28, hit just .242/.301/.304 in 161 at-bats for the Mets last season before being non-tendered last month. The former top prospect doesn't really offer much more than a solid glove at this point.

 Jeremy Reed-OF - Blue Jays Dec. 12 - 8:13 pm et

Mets non-tendered outfielder Jeremy Reed.
Again a disappointment, Reed hit just .242/.301/.304 in 161 at-bats for the Mets. He's a legitimate center fielder, but he's now had 1,222 at-bats in the majors and he's still never hit.
 Tim Redding-S - Rockies Dec. 12 - 8:54 am et

The Mets intend to allow Tim Redding and Jeremy Reed to become free agents, reports Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.
Redding ended the year with a 5.10 ERA thanks to a strong finish. He's likely to land somewhere on a major league deal while Reed will have to fight over scraps for backup outfielders. Hubbuch says the Mets plan to tender John Maine, Pedro Feliciano and Jeff Francouer.

 Gary Sheffield-OF - Mets Jul. 20 - 3:35 pm et

Gary Sheffield (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup on Monday for the third consecutive game.
As David Lennon of Newsday writes: "The Mets might want a do-over on their diagnosis of cramps for Sheffield's hamstring. Just a thought." Jeremy Reed is in left and batting sixth.

 Gary Sheffield-OF - Mets Jul. 20 - 9:50 am et

Gary Sheffield (hamstring) is hoping to return to the lineup Monday.
Sheffield departed Friday's game in the fifth inning after pulling up lame while chasing a ball to left field. If he's not ready by Monday, perhaps he'll be a go on Tuesday when the Mets face Washington left-hander John Lannan.

 Gary Sheffield-OF - Mets Jul. 18 - 5:27 pm et

Gary Sheffield (right hamstring) said he will return soon.
Sheffield said his sore hamstring felt better. He suffered the injury on Friday chasing after a liner to left. Sheffield was out of Saturday's lineup, but manager Jerry Manuel said he could be used as a pinch-hitter. Jeremy Reed replaced Sheffield in Saturday's lineup.
