Cubs activated infielder Andres Blanco from the 15-day disabled list.
Blanco has been sidelined since August 4 with a left calf strain. He was batting .237/.297/.323 with one homer and nine RBI in 93 at-bats before the injury. Not that he deserves it, but with Jeff Baker back to full health, the 25-year-old Blanco is unlikely to draw much playing time.

 Andres Blanco-2B - Cubs Aug. 4 - 5:42 pm et

Cubs placed INF Andres Blanco on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain.
The Cubs had to make a roster move in order to make room for the newly-acquired Tom Gorzelanny on the roster. Blanco has a .237/.297/.323 line along with one homer and nine RBI in 93 at-bats.
 Andres Blanco-2B - Cubs Jul. 29 - 5:18 pm et

Andres Blanco hit his first career homer off Doug Brocail in the eighth inning of Wednesday's rout.
Blanco, who replaced Ryan Theriot in the lopsided game, hit the homer in his 315th major league at-bat. He was hitting .216/.274/.273 in 88 at-bats for the Cubs this season.
 Mike Fontenot-2B - Cubs Jul. 3 - 2:30 pm et

According to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat, Mike Fontenot risks demotion if he doesn't perform well this weekend.
With Aramis Ramirez, Reed Johnson and Angel Guzman all expected to return from the disabled list as soon as Monday, the Cubs will need to jettison some players. With Andres Blanco switch-hitting and hitting well of late, Fontenot needs to demonstrate his worth to the Cubs or face the consequences. He has options left, which hurts him as well.

 Ryan Freel-OF - Rangers Jun. 15 - 6:30 pm et

Ryan Freel (hamstring) is slated to begin his rehab stint Monday at Triple-A Iowa.
Freel has been out since May 28 with a strained left hamstring. The outfielder will likely be in the minors for the better part of the week before a decision is made. Andres Blanco may draw the short straw when Freel is healthy and return to the minors.
