Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Nationals have "once again put Josh Willingham back out on the market."
Olney suggests that a trade could clear the way for Adam Dunn to move back to the outfield. The Nats expressed interest in Mike Jacobs recently and might want to bring him in to play first base. Willingham, 30, hit .260 with an .863 OPS, 24 home runs and 61 RBI in 133 games last season.

The Nationals and outfielder Josh Willingham avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $4.6 million contract.
Willingham hit .260 with a .863 OPS, 24 homers and 61 RBI in 133 games this past season. He is under team control via arbitration through 2011.

The Mets have increased efforts to land Josh Willingham or the Angels' Juan Rivera to fill their left field void, according to the New York Post.
The Mets are understandably concerned that the markets for Matt Holliday and Jason Bay will push them out of contention for either big-ticket free agent. Rivera has two years at $9.5 million left on his deal, while Willingham's 2009 salary of $2.95 million should at least double through the arbitration process. Holliday's signing, whenever that may be, should set off a large domino effect of corner-outfield transactions.

The Nationals are reluctant to deal outfielder Josh Willingham.
"He's not just a good player, he's a great person," said Nationals manager Jim Riggelman. "Tough guy. All man. He's big in our lineup. When you have a guy like him, he fits a lot of teams' needs. We don't have any desire to move Willingham" believe me. But he's a guy a lot of teams call about, because he doesn't have an exorbitant salary ($2.95 million in 2009). Teams are going to be interested in him. My guess is that he'll be our left fielder. Again, if between now and opening day a team overwhelms us, you'd have to listen." Willingham hit .260 with a .863 OPS, 24 homers and 61 RBI in 133 games this past season.

The Mets are interested in Josh Willingham, according to MLB.com's Bill Ladson on Twitter.
The Mets are targeting the right player. The 30-year old Willingham cranked 24 home runs and posted a .260 batting average in 2009 and is under team control via arbitration for two more years. Acquiring him would allow the Mets to avoid a massive outlay for Matt Holliday or Jason Bay while steering clear of the lesser outfield candidates available. That said, it's unknown if Washington has any real interest in moving the left fielder.

FOXSports.com reports that the Nationals have been drawing strong trade interest for Josh Willingham.
The question is whether they would be willing to part with him. Willingham, 30, batted .260/.367/.496 with 24 homers and 61 RBI in 2009, and was coveted by several teams at the trade deadline. According to the report, the Braves have interest in Willingham, but also have concerns about his defense and past back troubles. Willingham earned $2.95 million last season and will likely see a raise to the $4-5 million range in his second year of arbitration. Under team control through 2011, Willingham might be the best trade chip the Nationals have.
