The Dodgers have acquired LHP George Sherrill from the Orioles in exchange for prospects 3B Josh Bell and RHP Steve Johnson, multiple news outlets are reporting.
Sherrill will work as a setup man in front of closer Jonathan Broxton, which kills the left-handers fantasy value in mixed leagues. Sherrill is enjoying a stellar campaign, producing a 2.40 ERA with 20 saves and a 39/13 K/BB ratio in 41 1/3 innings. Jim Johnson is the big winner in this trade from a fantasy prospective. Johnson (3.30 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 31/16 K/BB rate in 46 1/3 innings) is assumed to be the next closer in Baltimore, although the team could always go with a committee. Source: MLB.com
