Giants signed RHP Santiago Casilla to a minor league contract.
Casilla was released by the Athletics rather than pay him through the arbitration process. The 29-year old posted a 5.95 ERA in 46 games in 2009, but has shown flashes of being a good reliever. His command is what holds him back, and he'll try to make his way back to the majors in San Francisco.

Athletics released RHP Santiago Casilla.
A non-tender candidate, the A's decided to cut him loose to make room for Rule 5 selection Bobby Cassevah. Casilla, 29, posted a 5.96 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 46 games in '09. He's shown flashes of being an effective reliever, but his shoddy command continues to hold him back.

Athletics activated RHP Santiago Casilla from the disabled list.
Casilla and Aaron Cunningham join the active roster, with Jeff Gray and Jerry Blevins heading to Triple-A. Casilla seems injury-prone, so you might think twice before counting on him in 2009.

Athletics assigned RHP Jeff Gray to Triple-A Sacramento.
With only 1/3 of an inning pitched since being recalled last week, Gray was the logical choice to be sent down to make room for Santiago Casilla (knee), who is set to come off the disabled list Friday. to be a move to get Gray more playing time. For what it's worth, the reliever owns a 0.00 ERA in the bigs this season.

Santiago Casilla (knee) is likely to be activated Friday.
Casilla hurled a 1-2-3 inning Tuesday at Triple-A Sacramento. He's been out since April 29 with a sprained right knee.

Oakland reliever Santiago Casilla (calf) will make an appearance at Class A Stockton Saturday and another a few days later at Triple-A
Depending on the rehab appearances Casilla could be back to the Athletics bullpen by the end of next week.
