Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks are discussing a trade that would send catcher Chris Snyder to the Blue Jays for first baseman Lyle Overbay.
Snyder, 28, has two years and $11.25 million left on his contract while Overbay, 31, has one year and $7 million left on his. Piecoro speculates that the Diamondbacks might want to give top-prospect Brandon Allen some more seasoning at Triple-A Reno. With a solid glove, Overbay would stabilize a position where first base options combined to hit just .229/.321/.398 last season. If no money is exchanged, the Diamondbacks would save $4.25 million over two years. It's hard to believe the Blue Jays like Snyder that much. Source: Arizona Republic
