Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Pirates are nearing a deal with free agent outfielder Ryan Church.
"Steps in the process are still remaining," according to Morosi, but a deal could be announced in the next few days. Church, 31, was non-tendered by the Braves last month after hitting .273/.338/.384 with four home runs and 40 RBI in '09. Assuming he can stay on the field, Church would at least share right field duties with Garrett Jones and Brandon Moss. Source: FOXSports.com
