Angels signed infielder Maicer Izturis to a three-year, $10 million extension.
The deal provides the versatile Izturis with a $500,000 signing bonus, a $2.6 million salary this year, $3.1 million in 2011 and $3.8 million in 2012. He batted .300/.359/.434 with eight homers, 65 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 387 at-bats last season and will serve as a utility infielder in 2010. Limited playing time should keep him off most fantasy rosters.

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register hears that Maicer Izturis' three-year contract extension is worth $10 million.
Sounds about right, considering Izturis requested a $3 million salary and was offered $2.3 million when arbitration figures were exchanged last week. The 29-year-old hit .300/.359/.434 with eight homers, 65 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 387 at-bats last year while earning $1.6 million.

John Hickey of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Angels have inked infielder Maicer Izturis to a three-year contract extension.
The money involved has not yet been revealed, but it's probably worth noting that Izturis requested $3 million and was offered $2.3 million from the Angels when arbitration figures were exchanged last Tuesday. He hit .300/.359/.434 in 387 at-bats last year while playing 72 games at second base, 28 games at short and five games at third. The deal will buy out his last arbitration-eligible season and his first two years of free agency.

Maicer Izturis requested $3 million and was offered $2.3 million from the Angels when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday.
Izturis, 29, hit .300/.359/.434 in 387 at-bats this season. With that sort of production, multi-position eligibility and sneaky speed, Izturis will be a player to remember in spring drafts.
 Brandon Wood-3B - Angels Dec. 9 - 8:20 pm et

Mike Scioscia revealed the Angels' plans to replace departed third baseman Chone Figgins in a chat with reporters Wednesday.
Brandon Wood is the leading candidate to start at third base. "He has to have the mindset to come in there a win a position," Scioscia said. "We do have some depth that we'll use if it's going to make us a better team, but we definitely want to give Brandon every opportunity to show his talent. Because he's a very, very talented young player." Maicer Izturis and Erick Aybar could share the leadoff role. Izturis will share time with Wood while also backing up shortstop and second base. "...if Izzy is in the lineup, I think he's a natural to lead off," Scioscia said. "If he's not, then Erick Aybar would definitely be a guy who could lead off. He'd get on base and set the table -- maybe not at the pace that Chone did, but eventually he'll roll into that."

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports the Angels may be shopping some of their infielders this winter in an attempt to address other needs.
The Angels need to find a corner outfielder and would like to add a few reliable arms to their bullpen. Erick Ayabar is considered untouchable, but the Halos could very well be fielding offers for Maicer Izturis and Howie Kendrick. Izturis, 29, hit .300/.359/.434 in 387 at-bats this season.
