Jason Kubel went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Sunday and finished the ALDS with nine strikeouts.
Kubel, who came up so big against the Royals last weekend and again Tuesday versus the Tigers, had just a single in 14 at-bats in the sweep. Both Joe Mauer and Michael Cuddyer had nice series out of the third and fourth spots in the lineup, but there was nothing behind them with Kubel and Delmon Young struggling.

Jason Kubel launched two three-run homers off Luke Hochevar as the Twins cruised to a 13-4 victory over the Royals on Sunday and forced a one-game playoff against the Tigers.
That will take place on Tuesday, since the Metrodome will be occupied by Brett Favre's ego and a whole lot of purple on Monday. Kubel's homers were his 26th and 27th of the year and they put him over 100 RBI. He'll have one more game to add to his numbers against the Tigers, assuming that Twins manager Ron Gardenhire doesn't sit him to protect his .300 average.

Jason Kubel was 2-for-3 with three RBI in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday night.
Kubel hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth, later bringing the Twins to within one run with a double in the top of the eighth, but the rally fell just short. Kubel is having a career-year across the board, batting .297/.369/.521 with 24 homers and 92 RBI.

Kubel missed a second straight start because of a sore neck, but he got two at-bats after replacing Carlos Gomez. He'll probably be in Tuesday's lineup.
