Yuniesky Betancourt (hamstring) was scheduled to make his second rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma, but was scratched from the lineup.
According to Betancourt, his hamstring felt fine, so he didn't know why he was held out. This led to speculation that Betancourt was about to be traded, but the Mariners reserved comment besides saying that it was an organizational decision. With the strong play of Ronny Cedeno in his absence, it would appear that he is expendable. The 27-year-old shortstop is batting .250 with two homers and 22 RBI this season. If traded, the Mariners would likely have to eat part of the $10 million that remains on his contract. Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer
