 Erick Aybar-SS - Angels Jan. 15 - 10:12 pm et

According to Sam Miller of the Orange County Register, Erick Aybar was back in the lineup for Licey of the Dominican Republic winter league on Friday.
It appeared that he had sustained an injury to his left leg on Thursday, but Angels spokesman Tim Mead said it was related to pain in his lower back. Apparently it's not serious enough to keep the 26-year-old out of the lineup, so Angels fans and fantasy owners alike should breathe a sigh of relief.

 Erick Aybar-SS - Angels Jan. 15 - 10:03 am et

Erick Aybar left a game Thursday in the Dominican Republic after apparently straining a muscle in his left leg.
Aybar was attempting to beat out a grounder when he pulled up lame. The Angels haven't been updated on his condition though the injury isn't expected to affect his readiness for spring training. He posted a career-best .312/.353/.423 batting line with 14 stolen bases last season.

 Brandon Wood-3B - Angels Dec. 9 - 8:20 pm et

Mike Scioscia revealed the Angels' plans to replace departed third baseman Chone Figgins in a chat with reporters Wednesday.
Brandon Wood is the leading candidate to start at third base. "He has to have the mindset to come in there a win a position," Scioscia said. "We do have some depth that we'll use if it's going to make us a better team, but we definitely want to give Brandon every opportunity to show his talent. Because he's a very, very talented young player." Maicer Izturis and Erick Aybar could share the leadoff role. Izturis will share time with Wood while also backing up shortstop and second base. "...if Izzy is in the lineup, I think he's a natural to lead off," Scioscia said. "If he's not, then Erick Aybar would definitely be a guy who could lead off. He'd get on base and set the table -- maybe not at the pace that Chone did, but eventually he'll roll into that."

 Roy Halladay-S - Phillies Dec. 9 - 7:59 pm et

The Angels have offered SP Joe Saunders, SS Erick Aybar and CF Peter Bourjos to the Blue Jays for ace Roy Halladay, according to the Toronto Sun.
The offer could put the Angels in the driver's seat for Toronto's ace; they have been the most aggressive in negotiations and possess the requisite ammunition to get a deal done. Saunders, 28, was 16-7 with a 4.60 earned run average in 31 starts in 2009. Aybar, who will turn 26 next month, hit .312 with five homers and 58 RBIs in 137 games. Bourjos, 22, is a highly-regarded speedster. Saunders and Aybar are both three years away from free agency. The story notes that the Blue Jays would likely trade recently-signed shortstop Alex Gonzalez if they acquired Aybar.

 Erick Aybar-SS - Angels Oct. 10 - 8:18 am et

Erick Aybar hit a two-run triple Friday night, propelling the Angels to a 4-1 win they would make stand up in the Game 2 ALDS affair.
Aybar's triple made it past Ellsbury's outstretched glove in deep center for two crucial insurance runs. He has been one of Los Angeles' hottest hitters along with Bobby Abreu in the first two games. This was the 25-year old's first season where he actually contributed with the bat and may be developing into one of the league's best shortstops before our very eyes.
