After losing the NLCS to the Phillies for a second straight season, outfielder Andre Either expressed the Dodgers need for an ace pitcher.
"I think they have a clear No. 1 guy," Ethier said, in reference to the National League champion Phillies. "That's the biggest thing. No disrespect for our pitchers, the way they've performed, but when you've got a Cliff Lee, a veteran guy who knows how to pitch and has pitched well and is carrying some hardware with him, you've got a great guy to lead off your staff." Los Angeles starters had a 5.30 ERA over eight starts during the postseason. The rotation could see a significant makeover, with Randy Wolf, Vicente Padilla and Jon Garland expected to hit the free agent market. Dodgers fans will no doubt clamor for Roy Halladay this winter.
