 Wandy Rodriguez-S- AstrosJan. 25 - 6:59 pm et
The Astros and Wandy Rodriguez are likely headed to an arbitration hearing.
Rodriguez asked for $7 million and was offered $5 million from the Astros when arbitration figures were exchanged last Tuesday. It seems like $6 million would be a fine compromise, but perhaps one of the two sides is being stubborn. Wandy went 14-12 last year with a 3.02 ERA and 193 strikeouts over 33 starts. He's a true fantasy stud.

According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Astros "are said to be unwilling to do multi-year deals with any of their arbitration-eligible" players.
That includes Wandy Rodriguez, Hunter Pence and Tim Byrdak. The Astros are facing a bit of a budget crunch these days, the result of being locked into too many veteran contracts. Perhaps things will be different for owner Drayton McLane and Co. by the time Rodriguez and Pence have the option of exploring free agency. Both would be hot commodities on the open market.

Wandy Rodriguez asked for $7 million and was offered $5 million from the Astros when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday.
Rodriguez continued his dominance at home and relative mediocrity on the road last season, posting a 2.08 ERA and .227 opponents' batting average inside Minute Maid Park. He has No. 2 starter potential and deserves a nice payout, but he may struggle to score wins this season on a bad Astros team.

Wandy Rodriguez yielded three runs over six innings in a 7-1 loss to the Mets on Friday night.
Rodriguez held the Mets to one run over the first five innings before serving up a go-ahead two-run homer to Jeff Francoeur in the sixth, putting him on the losing end of the ledger. He struck out three and walked one in the loss. Rodriguez wraps up the season at 14-12 with a 3.02 ERA over 33 starts. With 193 strikeouts in 205 2/3 innings, the 30-year-old southpaw enters 2010 as an emerging fantasy ace.

Wandy Rodriguez yielded two runs in six innings to defeat the Reds on Sunday.
Rodriguez did give up nine hits, but eight of those were singles and he walked just one while striking out nine. Rodriguez is 14-11 with a 2.97 ERA entering his final start of the season and has proven to be one of the best draft day bargains at starting pitcher this season.

Wandy Rodriguez was knocked around for six runs on nine hits over five innings of work in a loss to the Cardinals on Monday night.
Rodriguez has mostly been excellent this season, but he has certainly proven capable of serving up the occasional dud. While he showed good command of the strike zone tonight, striking out five and walking none, the Cards were right over him from the get-go. Rodriguez drops to 13-11 on the season with the loss, but still holds an outstanding 2.97 ERA.
