Garrett Mock yielded one run over six innings but didn't figure into the decision in an eventual 2-1 Nationals victory on Thursday night.
Mock issued four walks against only two strikeouts, which could have been trouble when combined with the five hits he allowed, but he induced three double plays and the Braves went 0-for-4 in scoring opportunities against him, allowing him to escape unscathed outside of a solo homer by Nate McLouth. Mock finishes his unimpressive campaign at 3-10 with a 5.62 ERA.

Craig Stammen (elbow soreness) has been scratched from his start on Friday.
He will have an MRI on Thursday. "I don't really know what's going on," Stammen. "It's just painful. It doesn't feel good. It's kind of something that's built up over the course of the whole year. It's something I've pretty much dealt with over the course of the whole season. It's just kind of time to get it checked out right now." Garrett Mock will take Stammen's place on Friday against the Marlins.

Garrett Mock limited the Cardinals to two runs in six innings today but still took a loss in a 2-1 affair.
It was a tough break for Mock, who struck out five while walking just one and giving up four hits. Mock has looked strong in his last five starts, posting a 3.13 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings. Command has still been a problem with 12 walks during that timeframe, but overall he's been an asset of late. NL-only leaguers can take a chance on him when he gets the Marlins next time out.

Garrett Mock allowed two runs over five innings in a loss to the Rockies on Thursday night.
It was a step back from his past two outings, but still a solid start as he set a season high with eight strikeouts while yielding only three hits and two walks. Mock has pitched reasonably well since jumping into the rotation in July, giving the Nats cause for hope going forward.

Garrett Mock tossed six shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Reds on Friday night.
Consecutive solid starts by Mock. He scattered six hits while walking four and whiffing six. He has lowered his ERA from 6.75 to 5.27 over his last two starts. The Nationals could really use him as a building block now that Jordan Zimmermann will miss all of 2010.

Garrett Mock held the Diamondbacks to two earned runs over six innings Saturday as the Nationals picked up a 5-2 victory.
The Nationals have now won seven straight. Mock was fantastic, striking out seven while allowing just five hits. He was 5-1 with a 2.65 ERA earlier this season as a starter with Triple-A Syracuse and deserves a permanent spot in Washington's starting rotation.
