Dodgers signed OF Matt Kemp to a two-year, $10.95 million contract.
He is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, so the Dodgers will retain team control for one season after the new contract expires. Kemp is set to take home $4 million this season and $6.95 million in 2011, a pretty nice deal for a franchise in flux. The 25-year-old outfielder batted .297/.352/.490 with 26 home runs, 101 RBI, 97 runs scored and 34 stolen bases in '09 and should be among the first outfielders taken in fantasy drafts this season.

Matt Kemp's two-year deal with the Dodgers is worth $10.95 million, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.
It's a great deal for the Dodgers, who will have Kemp at a bargain rate over his next two arbitration-eligible seasons. The 25-year-old has quickly become a fantasy stud and is even reaching celebrity status off the field. He hit .297/.352/.490 last year with 26 homers, 34 stolen bases and 101 RBI.

The Dodgers have reached agreement on a two-year contract with outfielder Matt Kemp, according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick.
The deal will cover the 25-year-old Kemp through his arbitration years. He hit .297/.352/.490 last year with 26 homers, 34 stolen bases and 101 RBI, and is quickly turning into a fantasy superstar. Financial details have not leaked, but Kemp should see a substantial raise from the $475,000 he made in 2009.

Joe Torre said that 2011 will "definitely" be his final season, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
At least that's what he's saying today. Torre, 69, is entering the final year of a three-year, $13 million contract, but has been in talks to extend his deal for at least one more season. Over his first two seasons in Los Angeles, Torre has led the Dodgers to a 179-145 record and consecutive National League West titles.

During an appearance on Sirius XM's Home Plate channel, Matt Kemp's agent Dave Stewart said he was progressing on a two-year deal with the Dodgers.
Stewart said that "the uncertainty of ownership" is the primary reason why the deal would be so short in length. Quickly emerging as a star, the 25-year-old Kemp hit .297/.352/.490 with 26 homers, 34 stolen bases and 101 RBI with the Dodgers last season. He is under team control through 2012.

MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports that the Dodgers have opened discussions on a multi-year contract extension with Matt Kemp.
His agent, however, told Gurnick that Kemp might rather go year-to-year with salary arbitration. The 25-year-old hit .297/.352/.490 in 2009 with 26 home runs, 34 stolen bases and 101 RBI, and stands to make a large chunk of change either way. He's quickly evolving into a fantasy superstar.
