 Ike Davis-1B- MetsOct. 14 - 2:44 am et
Ike Davis homered, doubled twice and drove in six runs to lead Surprise to a 17-4 win as the Arizona Fall League opened play Tuesday.
Davis, a 2008 first-round pick, had a brutal pro debut last year and wasn't much better in the first month of this season, but he came on very strong after that and ended up hitting .309/.386/.565 in 207 at-bats following a promotion to Double-A Binghamton. For that reason, the Mets don't figure to look into bringing in a long-term first baseman this winter.

 Ike Davis-1B - Mets May. 3 - 8:49 am et

Ike Davis, the Mets' first round pick in 2008, has finally hit his first pro home run.
The Mets expect Davis to be a power hitter, but he needed 282 at-bats to collect his first homer as a pro. He's a college product, so he's already 22 years old. Since he's already at the wrong end of the defensive spectrum, he's not going to have the same margin for error as most first-round picks.
