 Chris Volstad-S- MarlinsSep. 27 - 3:49 pm et
Chris Volstad lasted just four innings against the Mets on Sunday, allowing two runs and taking a loss in a 4-0 game.
Volstad had been working on the side to get things back in order, so they limited his pitch count to 66 today. He wasn't terribly effective while allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out two. Now 9-13 with a 5.21 ERA, Volstad has certainly been a disappointment but is still plenty talented and young and as a result will be worth a flier next season.

 Josh Johnson-S - Marlins Sep. 27 - 11:23 am et

The Marlins have scratched Josh Johnson from his scheduled Sunday start.
Johnson is dealing with an illness, so Chris Volstad will take the hill instead. It's unknown at the moment how long Johnson will be out for.

 Chris Volstad-S - Marlins Sep. 19 - 7:51 pm et

Chris Volstad threw a 50-pitch simulated game Saturday and is hoping to return next week as a reliever.
Volstad was highly ineffective in his last several starts, posting a 9.91 ERA since the beginning of August. Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said he'll be available out of the bullpen Tuesday, but the club isn't likely to use him in high-pressure situations. He'll be a mop-up man, at best.

 Chris Volstad-S - Marlins Sep. 18 - 9:32 am et

Chris Volstad is in danger of being shut down for the rest of the season.
Volstad has posted a 9.91 ERA in six starts since the beginning of August and was lit up for five runs over just three innings Sunday against the light-hitting Nationals. He'll throw live batting practice this weekend. "Then we'll see," said manager Fredi Gonzalez. "I'd like to see him pitch again."

 Rick VandenHurk-S - Marlins Sep. 14 - 7:33 pm et

Rick VandenHurk will draw the start Friday against Cincinnati.
The start comes at the expense of Chris Volstad, who has been struggling mightily as of late. VandenHurk left Sept. 8's game early with back stiffness but has healed since. VandenHurk is a risky play if you're in a playoff scenario.

 Chris Volstad-S - Marlins Sep. 13 - 7:39 pm et

Chris Volstad, making his return to the rotation since being demoted after his August 28 start, struggled while yielding five runs -- four earned -- in three innings on SUnday.
Volstad gave up five hits, struck out two, and walked five. Given his struggles the Marlins may well shut him down for the year rather than continue to throw him out there. He's certainly not a fantasy option right now.
