Cardinals signed LHP Rich Hill to a minor league contract.
The Redbirds also came to terms with right-hander Evan MacLane and left-hander Oneli Perez on minor league deals. They all receive invites to Spring Training. Hill, who turns 30 in March, was 3-3 with a 7.80 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 14 games (13 starts) with the Orioles last season before undergoing surgery on his torn left labrum in August. His career has taken a severe turn for the worst, but a visit to pitching guru Dave Duncan could do the trick.

Rich Hill expects to sign a contract on Wednesday or Thursday, reports Roch Kubato of MASNSports.com.
He hasn't eliminated the Orioles as a possibility, but hinted to Kubato that one team may be willing to hand him a major league deal. "I've talked with a number of teams," he said, "and I think there are some good opportunities out there. That's where it's at right now." Hill was 3-3 with a 7.80 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 13 starts (57 2/3 innings) last season before undergoing labrum surgery in August.

Rich Hill "is poised to accept another offer" from a team not named the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The O's offered Hill a minor league contract earlier this offseason but he rejected the proposal. He went 3-3 last season with a 7.80 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 13 starts (57 2/3 innings) but he was battling a shoulder injury for much of the season. In fact, he underwent surgery in August.

Orioles sent LHP Rich Hill, RHP Alfredo Simon and RHP Bob McCrory outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
McCrory, who recently underwent shoulder surgery, would seem to be the one from the group most likely to remain in the organization. Hill had surgery in August to repair a torn labrum. He's aiming to return in spring training, but it's doubtful that he'll open 2010 on a major league roster.

Orioles transferred LHP Rich Hill to the 60-day disabled list.
Hill underwent surgery on his torn left labrum in mid-August and is aiming to be at full strength by the start of spring training. The transfer cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Jeff Fiorentino.

Rich Hill is leaning toward undergoing left shoulder surgery after an arthrogram and MRI revealed a displaced labrum tear on Friday.
He's done for the season either way. "It's something that's obviously serious," Hill said Friday. "However, the percentages are looking very good in my favor for being able to come back and compete and be successful like I was in the past. ... Now I have answers and a clear direction of where I want to go to get this fixed." Chris Tillman has taken his spot in the starting rotation.
