ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that the Pirates have agreed to a minor league contract with left-handed reliever Jack Taschner.
The deal, once finalized, will come with an invitation to spring training. Taschner, 31, posted a 4.91 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and 19/20 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings of relief this year for the Phillies. He was equally bad against right-handed and left-handed hitters in 2009 and will probably be used as a middle reliever in Pittsburgh, if he makes the club. Source: ESPN.com
