Edinson Volquez (elbow surgery) is about to begin a throwing program, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
"The reports are good," said assistant general manager Bob Miller. "He’s worked hard and got in great shape. That helps." Volquez underwent Tommy John surgery in August and hasn't had any setbacks in his rehab. That said, he's a longshot to contribute in any significant way next season.

Edinson Volquez (elbow surgery) is hoping to be ready by June of 2010.
It's doubtful he reaches that goal. Volquez underwent Tommy John surgery in in early August, just four months ago, and still has a long road ahead. He shouldn't be counted on to contribute at all next season.

Reds transferred RHP Edinson Volquez to the 60-day disabled list.
Volquez is expected to miss most or all of the 2010 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery earlier this month. The Reds transferred him in order to make room on the 40-man roster.

According to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, the ulnar collateral ligament in Edinson Volquez's right elbow was almost completely torn.
Volquez underwent Tommy John surgery on Monday morning. There is a chance that he could return late in 2010, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect him to return to form until 2011 at the earliest.

Edinson Volquez underwent Tommy John surgery Monday morning, according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse.
Volquez is likely to miss most of the 2010 season. There's a chance he could return by late August or September, if setbacks are avoided. It's a major hit to the Reds' immediate future. The 26-year-old right-hander was 4-2 this season with a 4.35 ERA and boasts a 24-19 career record.

Edinson Volquez will undergo season-ending surgery on his right elbow on Monday, reports Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.
As reported earlier, it's still not known what type of procedure Volquez will have. If he needs Tommy John surgery, he could miss up to one year. "I feel bad because I've been working at for the past two months," Volquez said. "I threw five bullpens and I didn't feel anything. Then I get to the mound and see some hitters and I tried to do a little bit more than I did in the bullpen." We should have a better estimate of his recovery time after the surgery is complete on Monday.
