Blue Jays acquired LHP Dana Eveland from the Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Alex Anthopoulos is testing the notion that you can never have enough pitching. Eveland, 26, was designated for assignment by the Athletics this week after posting a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP in 13 games (nine starts) last season. The Jays surely hope he can resemble the same pitcher who surprised everyone in the first half of 2008, but unless he improves his command, it won't happen. A move to the National League would have been better for his career.

 Dana Eveland-S - Blue Jays Feb. 6 - 3:38 pm et

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays have acquired LHP Dana Eveland from the Athletics in for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
He was designated for assignment earlier in the week. Eveland, 26, compiled a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP in 13 games (nine starts) with the Athletics last season and a 4.94 ERA in 21 starts with Triple-A Sacramento in the hitter-friendly PCL. He hinted at some success in the early part of the 2008 season, so he could be an interesting piece in the puzzle that will be the Blue Jays rotation this season.

According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks would consider bringing back left-hander Dana Eveland.
Eveland was designated for assignment by the Athletics this week and could be a possibility for Arizona in the waiver process. Eveland, 26, posted a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP with the Athletics last season, but hinted at some success in the early part of 2008. The Diamondbacks swapped Eveland to the Athletics in the deal for Dan Haren.

A's designated LHP Dana Eveland for assignment.
In what is turning out to be a busy business day in Oakland, the team (perhaps temporarily) parts ways with Eveland to clear room on the 40-man roster. Eveland blew a good opportunity to establish himself as a major league starter in 2009, finishing with a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP. The 26-year-old should draw some attention from other organizations.

Dana Eveland allowed four earned runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Angels.
Eveland was given a golden opportunity at the end of this season to work his way into Oakland's plans for 2010. He blew it, allowing 13 runs over three starts. The 25-year-old will finish the year with a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP. He's fallen deep into prospect purgatory.
 Dana Eveland-S - Blue Jays Sep. 20 - 7:06 pm et

Making his first start since July 7, Dana Eveland yielded one run in five innings Sunday in a victory over the Indians.
Eveland had a 7.26 ERA and a 2.32 WHIP in six starts and four relief appearances for the A's this season. He should consider himself lucky that the A's have had to shut so many pitchers down or he never would have gotten another chance and he almost certainly would have found himself bumped from the roster this winter. Now he should have two more starts with which to pitch himself into Oakland's 2010 plans.
