Blue Jays acquired LHP Dana Eveland from the Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Alex Anthopoulos is testing the notion that you can never have enough pitching. Eveland, 26, was designated for assignment by the Athletics this week after posting a 7.16 ERA and 2.18 WHIP in 13 games (nine starts) last season. The Jays surely hope he can resemble the same pitcher who surprised everyone in the first half of 2008, but unless he improves his command, it won't happen. A move to the National League would have been better for his career. |
