 J.J. Hardy-SS- TwinsOct. 7 - 5:12 pm et
When asked whether both J.J. Hardy and Alcides Escobar could remain on the Brewers' roster, GM Doug Melvin said, "That would be very difficult."
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel believes that this means Hardy is on his way out of town. Trading Hardy would be the epitome of selling low (he went from an 821 OPS in 2008 to a 659 OPS in 2009), so there's a decent chance that an infield-starved team will end up getting a bargain.

 Alcides Escobar-SS - Brewers Oct. 6 - 2:11 pm et

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Alcides Escobar has retained his rookie status for 2010.
Escobar still falls under the at-bats and service time criteria in order to make him eligible for the Rookie of the Year award next season. He batted .304/.333/.368 with one home run, 11 RBI and four stolen bases in 38 games with the Brewers this season. Assuming the Brewers move J.J. Hardy during the offseason, Escobar should open 2010 as the early favorite for ROY honors.

 J.J. Hardy-SS - Twins Sep. 21 - 4:56 pm et

J.J. Hardy is starting at shortstop on Monday against the Cubs.
It probably has something to do with his .381 (8-for-21 with one homer) career average against Cubs starter Tom Gorzelanny. The Brewers, at this point, will probably do whatever they can to prod Hardy into a productive stretch to boost his trade value in the off-season. He is batting an anemic .194/.265/.226 since returning from the minors on September 1. Alcides Escobar is batting a scorching .611 (11-for-18) against left-handed pitching since coming to the majors, but he'll be on the bench to start the game.

 J.J. Hardy-SS - Twins Sep. 19 - 4:34 pm et

J.J. Hardy is starting at shortstop for a second straight day on Saturday.
Tom Haudricourt speculates that it might have something to do with the fact that Hardy is 4-for-8 against Brian Moehler in his career. It's anybody's guess since Hardy is batting just .185/.267/.185 with one home run and eight RBI since returning from the minors.

 Alcides Escobar-SS - Brewers Sep. 16 - 11:16 pm et

Alcides Escobar was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Cubs on Wednesday night.
Escobar never even had a three-hit game before Wednesday night. He drove in Casey McGehee with a first-inning double and two more with a single in the third inning. While J.J. Hardy has shrunk to a .167 batting average since his return from the minors, Escobar is off to an impressive .312/.333/.403 start in the majors.
 Alcides Escobar-SS - Brewers Sep. 3 - 1:45 pm et

Alcides Escobar is back in the starting lineup Thursday.
Escobar sat in favor of J.J. Hardy on Tuesday and Wednesday, who went two-for-eight with a RBI and strikeout. It looks as if Hardy and Escobar will be sharing time for the remainder of the year. After the season, Melvin either has to move Hardy to third (unlikely given Mat Gamel's presence) or trade him. Bet on the latter, as Escobar is proving his long-term worth to the team. If you have one of the two shortstops, you need to watch the daily lineups like a hawk.
