Indians prospect catcher Matt McBride hit an eighth inning go-ahead two-run homer as the West team defeated the East team 8-7 in the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars Game on Saturday night.
The West team actually trailed 7-0 before even getting a chance to bat, but they slowly chipped away at the East's lead while eight pitchers combined for 8 1/3 shutout innings. Two Reds prospects led the comeback, as Chris Heisey went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored while Yonder Alonso went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Nationals prospect Drew Storen entered the bottom of the eighth inning with a 7-6 lead for the East, but Padres prospect Lance Zawadzki singled and McBride delivered with the decisive pinch-hit two-run blast. |
