Brian Roberts has been diagnosed with a right shin contusion.
X-rays revealed no structural damage, but he probably won't play for the next few days. "It was getting worse and worse," Roberts said. "I figured the sooner we got ice on it, the sooner we attended to it, hopefully the shorter the period I'll be out." Robert Andino will probably fill in.

Brian Roberts left Saturday's game against the Blue Jays with a shin injury.
He suffered the injury during an at-bat in the first inning, fouling the ball off the inside part of his left shin. He tried to stick it out, but Robert Andino eventually replaced him in the third inning. Daily league owners might want to consider a replacement for Sunday.

Cesar Izturis will start Friday and Sunday, with Robert Andino drawing the start Saturday.
The Orioles have a two-year commitment to Izturis, so they'll give him the playing time. He has no stick but is a good defender. Robert Andino hit .222/.250/.293 in Izturis' absence, making the following quote by manager Dave Trembley all the more curious: "We're not going to forget the contributions Andino made while Izturis was on the DL." In any event, it looks as if Andino has played himself into more opportunities.

Cesar Izturis had the stitches from his appendectomy removed on Wednesday.
"I couldn't tell you when he's going to play," manager Dave Trembley said, "but he's feeling better." Robert Andino is filling in at shortstop in Izturis' absence.

Orioles placed shortstop Cesar Izturis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 4, with appendicitis.
Izturis is expected to miss about three weeks following an appendectomy Friday. Robert Andino will be his primary replacement at shortstop. Izturis hit .260/.293/.327 with one homer and nine steals in 45 games.

Carlos Izturis is undergoing surgery for appendicitis and will miss several weeks.
This isn't a tremendous loss for the O's, as Izturis was off to a .260/.293/.327 start and a subpar (for himself) 0.1 UZR/150. Robert Andino will start in his absence. Andino and Izturis have roughly been the same player so far on the season. The O's have no other middle infielders on the 40-man roster, so this may have far-reaching implications.
