The Marlins have sent left-hander Andrew Miller to the Arizona Fall League.
Miller, 24, didn't make the kind of strides the Marlins were hoping he'd make this season, going just 3-5 and posting a 4.84 ERA in 20 games (14 starts) before being demoted to Triple-A New Orleans in late July. The highly competitive instructional league should help the organization gather an idea of where he is headed as a player. The young lefty is in the starting rotation for the Mesa Solar Sox.

 Andrew Miller-S - Marlins Sep. 6 - 12:11 pm et

Marlins recalled Andrew Miller from Triple-A New Orleans.
Miller posted a 4.81 ERA in 14 starts and two relief appearances for the Fish in the first half. He stumbled entering the All-Star Break and was sent down to Triple-A where he experienced a bout with the yips and a strained ankle. Miller will serve out of the bullpen with a chance to grab a few starts down the stretch.
 Andrew Miller-S - Marlins Jul. 29 - 2:40 pm et

In his second start at Triple-A since being sent to the minor leagues, Andrew Miller allowed four runs on three hits with two walks and a hit batsman before leaving after one inning on Wednesday due to a sprained right ankle.
The young left-hander's season continues to spiral downward. After showing significant signs of progress in June, the 24-year-old has completely lost command of the strike zone, walking 11 batters in 5 2/3 innings since his demotion. At this rate, Miller won't be rejoining the Florida rotation anytime soon.

Marlins optioned LHP Andrew Miller to Triple-A New Orleans.
Miller hit a rough patch heading into the All-Star break and came out of it with a dud on Sunday afternoon, allowing four runs in just over two innings of work. It seems to be a control issue, so hopefully he can right the ship down on the farm and return to the Marlins a new man.
 Andrew Miller-S - Marlins Jul. 19 - 4:44 pm et

Andrew Miller failed to get out of the third inning for a second straight start on Sunday, this time against the Phillies.
Miller had no control today, walking four, hitting a batter, striking out none, and throwing just 29 of 65 pitches for strikes. The Phillies also added six hits and four runs off Miller, who had a similarly bad outing against the Diamondbacks last time out. Miller was looking quite good prior to these last two starts, but a control relapse as bad as this means he needs to be benched in all leagues until he proves it was a fluke.
 Chris Volstad-S - Marlins Jul. 11 - 8:37 pm et

Chris Volstad will open up the second half for the Marlins in a four-game set hosting the Phillies.
Volstad will be followed by Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco and Andrew Miller, not necessarily in that order. If Johnson pitches in the All-Star Game, he will not pitch Friday after Volstad. The club wants to avoid using Miller on Sunday given it would mean two straight days of lefties (Sean West being the other). Best guess: Volstad, Nolasco, Miller, Johnson, West.
