According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the White Sox are interested in trading for Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner.
The Royals also have some level of interest in dealing for the 26-year-old outfielder. Gardner hit .270 with a .345 on-base percentage and 26 steals in 108 games for New York in 2009. He's expendable now that the Yankees have acquired center fielder Curtis Granderson from Detroit.

 Brett Gardner-OF - Yankees Dec. 9 - 9:28 pm et

The Royals have asked about the availability of Yankees center fielder Brett Gardner, according to the Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton.
Gardner is expandable now that the Yankees have acquired Curtis Granderson. The 26-year-old hit .270 with a .345 on-base percentage and 26 steals in 108 games for New York in 2009. Kansas City should probably be more ambitious in their search for a starting center fielder -- Gardner, despite being solid defensively and a speedster -- will have to improve tangibly to become a decent regular because of his lack of power.

 Brett Gardner-OF - Yankees Nov. 2 - 6:28 pm et

Brett Gardner is starting in center field for Game 5 of the World Series.
Melky Cabrera was removed from the Yankees' playoff roster on Monday after suffering a hamstring injury in Game 4. Gardner is an upgrade defensively and can hold his own at the plate. He finished with a .270/.345/.379 batting line during the regular season despite a very rough start. He also stole 26 bases on 31 attempts and has two steals this postseason.

 Melky Cabrera-OF - Braves Nov. 2 - 8:46 am et

Melky Cabrera (hamstring) is doubtful to play in Game 5.
Cabrera suffered a mild strain of his left hamstring when running out a grounder to end the top of the sixth inning. "We’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see how he is," manager Joe Girardi said. "I doubt he can play tomorrow." Brett Gardner replaced him in Game 4, but Girardi said Jerry Hairston Jr. is also a possibility to start Game 5 if Cabrera is unable to go.

 Nick Swisher-OF - Yankees Oct. 23 - 7:31 pm et

Manager Joe Girardi will "sleep on" the idea of replacing Nick Swisher in the lineup for Game 6.
Swisher is 3-for-29 with 10 strikeouts in the postseason, including a bases-loaded pop-up to end Thursday's Game 5 against the Angels. He is 5-for-21 with a home run and six RBI against Game 6 starter Joe Saunders lifetime, but Girardi could opt for Brett Gardner to play center with Melky Cabrera in left.

 Robinson Cano-2B - Yankees Sep. 29 - 5:19 pm et

Robinson Cano is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Royals.
Cano is one of three Yankees' regulars to receive the night off, as Jorge Posada and Melky Cabrera will also take a seat. Ramiro Pena will start at second base, with Jose Molina behind the plate and Brett Gardner in center.
