Felipe Paulino tossed five innings of one-run ball in a win over the Phillies on Thursday night.
It wasn't a good season for Paulino, who will finish with a 3-11 record and 6.27 ERA, but he showed flashes at times and did post a solid 93-to-37 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 97 2/3 innings of work. He's only 25 and possesses a reasonably strong minor-league track record, so he's likely to get another shot next year. If he can cut down on the hits and home runs, he could be a great sleeper.

 Felipe Paulino-S - Astros Sep. 26 - 9:58 pm et

Felipe Paulino was hammered for eight earned runs in five innings of work Saturday in a loss to the Reds.
The Astros might want to look for a few free agent arms this winter. Paulino was absolutely torched by a weak Reds lineup and has a highly disappointing 6.51 ERA on the year.

Felipe Paulino was the tough-luck loser after giving up just one run in five innings against the Pirates on Sunday.
He struck out seven and walked just one, so it was quite an impressive outing. The quality start was the third straight for Paulino, who has 20 strikeouts in 17 innings during that stretch. His 6.06 ERA certainly isn't pretty, but Paulino has always had a strong strikeout rate and he's looked good of late. NL-only leaguers in need of innings can take a chance on him against the Brewers this week.

Felipe Paulino held the Cubs to two runs over six innings in a loss Wednesday.
Paulino fanned seven in his best outing since June 27. The showing would seem to guarantee that he'll make more starts this month. The 25-year-old has a surprisingly strong 65/24 K/BB ratio in in 70 2/3 innings, so he's due for some more good luck. That said, he's awfully risky to be trying now in NL-only leagues.

Felipe Paulino is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Cubs.
"We think (Paulino) deserves an opportunity to pitch," manager Cecil Cooper said Monday. "I think it's a good situation for him." Fantasy owners should hold off, as Paulino has a 6.96 ERA and 1.72 WHIP this year.

Astros recalled RHP Felipe Paulino from Triple-A Round Rock.
Paulino returns after being demoted August 8. He's spent most of the year being knocked around as a starter and will serve out of the bullpen, likely for the remainder of the year.
