According to MLB.com's Corey Brock, outfielder Kyle Blanks has a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot.
Blanks was fitted for a cast and isn't likely to return this season. If that's the case, he'll finish his rookie campaign with a .250/.355/.514 batting line, 10 home runs and 22 RBI in 148 at-bats. With Will Venable, Tony Gwynn Jr. and Chase Headley on-board, the Friars have an intriguing young outfield competition brewing for spring training 2010.

Padres placed outfielder Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list with strained arch in his right foot.
Blanks suffered the injury about a week ago and re-aggravated it Friday on a home-run trot. He shouldn't be out longer than the allotted 15 days. The rookie is hitting .250/.355/.514 this season with 10 home runs and 22 RBI in 148 at-bats.

The Padres are calling Kyle Blanks "day-to-day" after the young outfielder left Friday's game upon aggravating his injured right foot.
The Padres won't really know the severity of the injury until Blanks is reevaluated Saturday morning by team physicians. "I'm just hoping for the best," said manager Bud Black, "hoping it's nothing serious, and we'll just see from there." The 22-year-old is likely to get at least one day off.

Kyle Blanks aggravated his injured right foot Friday.
Blanks blasted a two-run homer before dipping down into the clubhouse for good. He originally suffered the injury last weekend and has already aggravated it twice. A day off Saturday is highly likely.
