General manager Frank Wren said Martin Prado will be the Braves' second baseman in 2010.
"I think we watched Martin Prado become our everyday second baseman in the second half," said Wren. "And I think that going into spring training, there’s no reason to think anything’s changed." As Kelly Johnson struggled, Prado took the second base job and ran with it, batting .307/.358/.464 with 11 homers, 49 RBI and 38 doubles. His .822 OPS ranked fifth among major league second baseman in 2009. With multiple-position eligibility, he should have plenty of value in drafts next season. With Prado seemingly in the clear, look for the Braves to utilize Johnson as a trade chip. |
