 Clay Buchholz-S- Red SoxOct. 13 - 9:35 am et
Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said Monday that he has already penciled Clay Buchholz into the 2010 starting rotation.
"Unlike last year, we can sit here and pencil him into our rotation for next year,’’ Epstein told a group of reporters. "It’s a good feeling.’’ Buchholz went 7-4 with a 4.21 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 16 starts during the regular season and held the Angels to two runs in five innings during Game 3 of the ALDS. He has all the tools to improve on his '09 stats and should make for a great value pick in fantasy drafts next spring.

 Jered Weaver-S - Angels Oct. 10 - 8:13 am et

Jered Weaver was brilliant in 7 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits while whiffing seven to send the Angels to a commanding 2-0 series lead.
The Sox bats looked flat for most of the night, and Weaver's control of all pitches didn't help matters. The 26-year old had a career year and now has given up just two earned runs in 21 total innings against Boston this year. The Angels will go for the ALDS sweep Sunday with Scott Kazmir against Clay Buchholz.
 Daisuke Matsuzaka-S - Red Sox Oct. 7 - 4:47 pm et

Despite his strong finish to the regular season, Daisuke Matsuzaka is beginning the postseason in the bullpen.
"I think Daisuke’s done a terrific job," manager Terry Francona said. "And Daisuke may carry a very big load in this postseason. And that’s kind of what we told him. But for right now, he’s starting the postseason out in the bullpen. That could change in a hurry." Clay Buchholz is the third starter for now, but Matsuzaka clearly appears to be next in line should Buchholz falter.

 Clay Buchholz-S - Red Sox Oct. 4 - 6:01 pm et

Clay Buchholz was roughed up for six runs in three innings of a no-decision against the Indians on Sunday.
He gave up five hits and two walks while striking out six. Buchholz ends the season 7-4 with a 4.21 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 16 starts. He had a 3.21 ERA prior to two awful starts to end the season, and he'll be a potential value pick in 2010. The win was Boston's 95th of the season, and Buchholz will take one of the club's rotation spots in the post-season.
 Clay Buchholz-S - Red Sox Sep. 29 - 10:37 pm et

Clay Buchholz gave up a career-high five home runs in an 8-7 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, as the Red Sox failed in their efforts to clinch the AL wild card.
Ugly. Buchholz had allowed just seven home runs in 84 innings entering Tuesday's game. He gave up seven runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one. He'll probably get another tune-up against the Indians in the final game of the season on Sunday. Terry Francona would no doubt like to see him shake off this poor outing in time for a probable start in Game Three of the ALDS.
 Jon Lester-S - Red Sox Sep. 25 - 10:06 am et

According to Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald, the Red Sox plan to start Jon Lester in Game 1 of their ALDS matchup.
It's all rumor and speculation until manager Terry Francona makes an official announcement, but the idea does make sense. Lester has been the club's most dominant pitcher this season, with an unreal 11-2 record and 2.13 ERA since May 31. Josh Beckett would start Game 2 and Clay Buchholz would draw the nod for Game 3. As of now, it appears the Red Sox will face the Angels in a five-game series beginning on October 8.
