Phillies manager announced Saturday that Joe Blanton will start Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers.
The move allows J.A. Happ, the other possible candidate for the start, to remain in the bullpen. Blanton went 12-8 with a 4.05 ERA and a career-high 163 strikeouts over 195 1/3 innings during the regular season. "He's got basically four pitches," Manuel said Saturday, "and he throws a fastball, curveball, slider, changeup, and his fastball sinks when he gets it down. And I think that he's a good fit." The best-of-seven series is tied 1-1. Source: Phillies.mlb.com
