Reds GM Walt Jocketty acknowledged Saturday that the Reds have legitimate interest in free agent utilityman Jamey Carroll.
"We haven't discussed him at length," Jocketty said of Carroll. "He's gutty and a tough player, a gamer-type of guy that's hard-nosed." The 35-year-old hit .276/.355/.340 with two homers, 26 RBI and 53 runs scored in 93 games with the Indians this past season. He could bring more production to Cincinnati's shortstop position, where Paul Janish currently is currently set to start. Source: MLBlogs.com
