Randy Wells yielded one run over six innings in a 7-2 win over the Brewers on Tuesday night.
Wells bounced back from consecutive rough outings, scattering seven hits while whiffing five and walking none. It was his first win since Sept. 1. With an 11-9 record to go along with a 3.00 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 25 starts, Wells stacks up pretty well against the other rookie pitchers, however he has fallen behind J.A. Happ and Tommy Hanson as far as consideration for NL ROY honors goes.
 Randy Wells-S - Cubs Sep. 12 - 4:23 pm et

Randy Wells lasted just 3 2/3 innings against the Reds on Saturday afternoon, allowing five runs -- three earned -- as part of a no-decision in an eventual 7-5 loss.
It tied for the shortest start of his career. Wells wasn't all that sharp, allowing six hits while walking three, but his defense didn't help him either, making three errors in the third inning to give the Reds a 2-0 lead. Still, the Rookie of the Year candidate carries a fine 2.96 ERA into a start against the Brewers next week.
 Randy Wells-S - Cubs Sep. 1 - 10:53 pm et

Randy Wells allowed an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings in a 4-1 win over the Astros on Tuesday night.
Wells loves pitching against the Astros -- he has allowed just one unearned run in 20 2/3 innings against them this season. He scattered seven hits against four strikeouts and a pair of walks in Tuesday's win. J.A. Happ is getting most of the attention in the NL ROY race at this point, but with a 10-7 record to go along with a 2.90 ERA, the 27-year-old Wells deserves some consideration, as well.
 Randy Wells-S - Cubs Aug. 22 - 12:51 am et

Randy Wells allowed two unearned runs in a tough-luck 2-1 loss to the Dodgers on Friday night.
Tough one to take for Wells, but he just didn't get any run support to work with. The 26-year-old rookie scattered seven hits while striking out three and walking a pair. The only runs scored on an RBI double by the opposing pitcher Randy Wells. It's too bad he missed out on the win, but he has notched five quality starts in his last six. Wells has a 2.84 ERA in 19 starts this season.
 Randy Wells-S - Cubs Aug. 14 - 5:20 pm et

Randy Wells yielded two runs and seven hits through six innings in a win over the Pirates on Friday.
Wells' biggest challenge today was staying warm while the Cubs scored four runs in the first, 10 in the second and three in the fourth. The Rookie of the Year contender is 9-5 with a 3.01 ERA.
