Randy Wells lasted just 3 2/3 innings against the Reds on Saturday afternoon, allowing five runs -- three earned -- as part of a no-decision in an eventual 7-5 loss.
It tied for the shortest start of his career. Wells wasn't all that sharp, allowing six hits while walking three, but his defense didn't help him either, making three errors in the third inning to give the Reds a 2-0 lead. Still, the Rookie of the Year candidate carries a fine 2.96 ERA into a start against the Brewers next week.
