 Emmanuel Burriss-2B- GiantsSep. 1 - 2:56 pm et
Giants recalled second baseman Emmanuel Burriss from Triple-A Fresno and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.
Of course, Burriss is out for the year after breaking his left foot back in July, so this is purely a procedural transaction in order to make room for the newly-inked Brad Penny on the roster. Burriss should be ready in time for the 2010 season.

 Emmanuel Burriss-2B - Giants Jul. 7 - 9:54 am et

Emmanuel Burriss suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot on Sunday during a game with Triple-A Fresno.
Burriss was optioned to Triple-A after suffering through an 0-for-27 slump during the month of June. The Giants were hoping he'd work his way back to the majors this season, but that appears unlikely. The San Francisco Chronicle is labeling him as "out indefinitely."

Giants optioned second baseman Emmanuel Burriss to Triple-A Fresno.
Burriss was in an 0-for-27 rut, and is batting just 238/.292/.267 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 202 at-bats this season. Matt Downs was called on to take his place.

Emmanuel Burriss was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a win over the Braves on Wednesday night.
Burriss struggled after being handed the leadoff spot earlier this month, but the potential loss in playing time might be motivating him right now. He now has a .271 batting average, but hasn't shown any signs of power. Most of his value is based on how much he runs, and he has 11 stolen bases this season. Even with the lack of pop, it's hard to believe Kevin Frandsen is a better option.

Emmanuel Burriss, fresh off taking over the leadoff spot in San Francisco, is going to lose playing time to Kevin Frandsen.
The Giants are trying to shake up their offense and get 1B Travis Ishikawa and Burriss out of their doldrums. Burriss has never hit for power and has his value completely tied up in batting average and speed. Frandsen isn't much better.

 Emmanuel Burriss-2B - Giants May. 12 - 8:21 am et

Emmanuel Burriss has taken over the leadoff spot in San Francisco.
Burriss is on a 13-for-27 tear and collected four hits Sunday against the rival Dodgers. "He can bunt, he can steal a base," beamed manager Bruce Bochy. "He can do some things you want your leadoff man to do." His power numbers are sorely lacking, but Burriss has managed to steal nine bases this season and carries a decent amount of value in NL-only leagues.
