The leg injury Gerardo Parra sustained while playing in the Venezuelan Winter League was diagnosed as a left quad strain.
Good news. Parra won't play again in Venezuela this winter, however he is expected to be ready for spring training without a hitch. Parra suffered the injury while running to first base. The 22-year-old outfielder batted .290/.324/.404 with five home runs, 60 RBI and 59 runs scored in his rookie season with the D'Backs in '09.

Gerardo Parra sustained a leg injury in the Venezuelan Winter League and is returning to Phoenix for an examination.
"We’re gathering info as we speak," general manager Josh Byrnes said. "It’s some sort of leg injury." According to a tweet by Augusto Cardenas, Parra suffered a partial tear of the rectus muscle in his left thigh. Parra reportedly hopes to miss only three weeks before returning for the postseason.

Gerardo Parra hit a go-ahead two-run double in a win over the Rockies on Friday night.
The Diamondbacks trailed 4-1 at one point, but stormed back with three runs in the fourth, finally taking the lead on the two-run double by Parra in the seventh. Parra is batting .294/.330/.411 with five homers and 56 RBI in 418 at-bats this season. The 22-year-old deserves to enter spring training with the clamp-down on an everyday gig.

Gerardo Parra started Friday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Brewers.
Parra was out of the starting lineup the previous two days with a sore leg.

Gerardo Parra will be held out of Thursday's lineup with a sore leg.
Parra was also absent from Wednesday starting lineup and has apparently been dealing with this brand of leg soreness since late July. The 22-year-old has played through the pain admirably and is batting an impressive .291/.327/.410 in his rookie campaign. He should have a starting gig locked up for 2010.

Gerardo Parra went 4-for-6 in an extra-inning victory over the Pirates on Thursday night.
Parra has racked up 20 hits in his past 49 at-bats, lifting his average from .263 to .290. He hasn't been walking much or displaying a ton of power, but still it's nice to see the 22-year-old heating up here in the latter half of the season.
