Tigers recalled infielder Michael Hollimon from Double-A Erie and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.
Purely a procedural transaction, the move enables the Tigers to make room for infielder Brent Dlugach on the 40-man roster. Also, similar to what the Phillies did with pitcher John Ennis on Monday, it also gives the club some roster flexibility for the post-season.

Tigers optioned RHP Chris Lambert, infielder Michael Hollimon and outfielder Casper Wells to Triple-A Toledo; optioned RHP Zach Simons to Double-A Erie; reassigned catcher Alex Avila and infielder Cale Iorg to minor league camp.
Lambert had an outside shot of cracking the Opening Day pitching staff, but struggled too much early in camp. Hollimon is coming back from September shoulder surgery.
