 Rafael Soriano-R - Rays Dec. 10 - 12:54 am et

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports a trade is nearly complete that would send Rafael Soriano to Tampa Bay for RHP Jesse Chavez.
The Rays acquired Chavez from the Pirates in early November in exchange for second baseman Akinori Iwamura. The 26-year-old had a 4.01 ERA in 67 1/3 innings as a rookie for the Pirates in 2009. Soriano, 29, posted a 2.97 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 102/27 K/BB ratio in 75 2/3 innings this past year.

Rays acquired RHP Jesse Chavez from the Pirates for second baseman Akinori Iwamura.
Chavez, 26, had a 4.01 ERA in 67 1/3 innings as a rookie for the Pirates this year. He throws 92-96 mph and his changeup makes him solid enough against lefties, but as an extreme flyball pitcher, he gives up too many homers to be trusted in late-game situations. He's just a standard middle reliever.
 Matt Capps-R - Nationals Sep. 28 - 9:34 am et

Despite his struggles this year, Matt Capps will head into spring training next season as the Pirates' closer.
Capps has a 5.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and five blown saves through 56 appearances this season. "Barring some unforeseen circumstance, if Matt comes into camp in the best shape, ready to pitch, he will be our closer," Huntington said. "We absolutely believe in him. If it doesn't work out, we have other options with Joel Hanrahan, Jesse Chavez and Evan Meek."

 Matt Capps-R - Nationals May. 26 - 3:18 am et

X-rays on Matt Capps' elbow revealed no fracture, but there's still no word on how much time he'll miss.
Capps was hit by a Geovany Soto liner while trying to close out Monday's game. If he needs to go on the DL, then John Grabow and Jesse Chavez would be the favorite for saves.

 Matt Capps-R - Nationals May. 25 - 11:44 pm et

Matt Capps left Monday's game in the ninth inning after taking a comebacker off his right hand.
Capps was drilled by a Geovany Soto liner back to the mound. John Grabow and Jesse Chavez would be the top candidates for saves if a DL stint is necessary.
