 Will Venable-OF- PadresSep. 24 - 12:32 am et
Will Venable was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday night.
Venable was a one-man wrecking crew against Jason Marquis on Wednesday, launching a solo home run off him in the second and then a three-run double in the fifth. Venable is batting .273/.340/.477 with 12 home runs, 37 RBI and six stolen bases in 264 at-bats this season. He deserves a shot to start in 2010.

 Will Venable-OF - Padres Sep. 15 - 10:06 pm et

Will Venable was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with flu-like symptoms.
Edgar Gonzalez is playing right field and batting sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Dan Haren. Venable should only need a day or two.

 Will Venable-OF - Padres Aug. 5 - 1:07 am et

Will Venable homered in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday night.
Venable finished the night 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. The team has given him regular playing time over the past two weeks, and what do you know, he has four homers and 10 RBI. As long as it sticks, the 26-year-old could have some fantasy relevancy down the stretch.
 Will Venable-OF - Padres Jul. 30 - 4:30 pm et

Will Venable went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Padres defeated the Reds 7-4 on Thursday.
The Padres took three straight in Cincinnati to finish a four-game series. Venable, who was making his first start since Monday, raised his average from .204 to .235. With Kyle Blanks now getting regular starts in the outfield, Venable's fantasy value will likely remain very limited unless Adrian Gonzalez gets traded today or tomorrow.
 Brian Giles-OF - Dodgers Jul. 16 - 1:32 pm et

Padres GM Kevin Towers indicated Thursday that Brian Giles will be stuck behind the club's young outfielders upon his return from the disabled list.
The Padres want Chase Headley, Tony Gwynn Jr., Will Venable and Kyle Blanks getting the outfield at-bats, which leaves Giles as the odd-man out. "I don't see Giles taking playing time away from those four," Towers said. Giles has been shelved since June 19 with a right knee contusion and there is no time table for his return. He's batting just .191/.277/.271 in 225 at-bats this season. One option: Eat the remainder of his $9 million contract.
