Sarfate was designated for assignment after the Orioles signed Miguel Tejada last week, but he managed to pass through waivers. He'll be invited to Spring Training. The 28-year-old right-hander compiled a 5.09 ERA in 20 relief appearances last season, but his season was interrupted by a circulatory problem in his right hand.

 Dennis Sarfate-R - Orioles Jan. 27 - 3:55 pm et

Orioles designated RHP Dennis Sarfate for assignment.
As expected, Sarfate was cleared in order to make room for the newly-signed Miguel Tejada. Sarfate posted a 5.09 ERA in 20 relief appearances last season, but was bothered by a circulatory problem in his right hand all season, causing numbness in his middle finger. Reports about his recent stint in the Mexican Winter League have been overwhelmingly positive and he still has a very live arm, so look for somebody to take a chance on him.

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun suggests that right-hander Dennis Sarfate could be designated for assignment to make room for the newly-signed Miguel Tejada on the 40-man roster.
The Orioles held an introductory press conference for Tejada on Tuesday, but did not announce a corresponding roster move. Sarfate, who turns 29 in April, posted a 5.09 ERA in just 20 games last season due to a circulatory problem in his right hand. He reported no problems during a recent stint with the Mexican Winter League, and his velocity is reportedly back to the mid 90s again. Ironically, Sarfate was one of the five players the Orioles received from the Astros for Tejada in 2007.

Orioles activated RHP Dennis Sarfate from the 15-day disabled list.
Sarfate has been out of commission since May 2 with a circulatory problem in his right hand that caused numbness in his middle finger. He had a 6.39 ERA in eight relief outings with the O's earlier this season.

Dennis Sarfate (finger) will remain on the disabled list until the rosters expand on September 1.
Sarfate's 30-day injury rehab assignment came to an end after Friday's game, but he granted the Orioles permission to delay his return so that the team doesn't have to make a corresponding roster move. He has rejoined the team in Baltimore, where he will do some long-tossing and conditioning leading up to September. Sarfate has been out of action since May 2 with a circulatory problem in his right hand that caused numbness in his middle finger.

Dennis Sarfate will make his final rehab appearance at Triple-A Norfolk on Friday night.
It's the final appearance because his 30 days are up. After the game, the Orioles will decide whether or not to bring him to the bigs.
