Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun suggests that right-hander Dennis Sarfate could be designated for assignment to make room for the newly-signed Miguel Tejada on the 40-man roster.
The Orioles held an introductory press conference for Tejada on Tuesday, but did not announce a corresponding roster move. Sarfate, who turns 29 in April, posted a 5.09 ERA in just 20 games last season due to a circulatory problem in his right hand. He reported no problems during a recent stint with the Mexican Winter League, and his velocity is reportedly back to the mid 90s again. Ironically, Sarfate was one of the five players the Orioles received from the Astros for Tejada in 2007. Source: Baltimore Sun
