Jeremy Hermida (oblique) is unlikely to start another game this season and may have appeared in his last game as a member of the Marlins.
"I think he may be done," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He had that one at-bat and he was pretty sore yesterday. We were going to let him pinch-hit again. Yesterday he came in about the fifth and he said it’s not feeling any better so we may shut him down." With Hermida likely done for the year (and possibly as a Marlin considering that the team is unlikely to tender him a contract), it's time to cut bait in non-keeper formats if you haven't done so already. Brett Carroll should continue to start, but isn't worth using outside of deep NL-only leagues.

Cody Ross is out of Monday's lineup due to a left wrist contusion he sustained Saturday.
Ross could miss the rest of the season with the injury. Nick Johnson is also out of the lineup again with flu-like symptoms. Brett Carroll is in right field and Ross Gload is at first base.

Brett Carroll filled in today and could get a lot of time in right field this week. Jeremy Hermida doesn't appear to be an option to replace him.

Brett Carroll connected for a pinch-hit go-ahead double in a win over the Reds on Friday night.
The Marlins were down 3-0 to start the top of the ninth, but rallied for four runs on five hits, a walk and an error. Carroll clubbed a two-out double to left center off Jared Burton, who came in to relieve closer Francisco Cordero. The Marlins have won three out of their last four games and are still alive in the playoff race.

Marlins recalled outfielder Brett Carroll from Triple-A New Orleans.
Carroll takes Nick Johnson's spot on the active roster, but will primarily be used as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement and should not be a consideration in NL-only leagues. Carroll is hitting .250 with three homers and nine RBI in 67 games for Florida this season.

Marlins optioned outfielder Brett Carroll to Triple-A New Orleans.
Carroll spent over two months with the Marlins, batting .250/.313/.443 with three home runs and nine RBI in 88 at-bats. The 26-year-old will be a September call-up, if he's not promoted before then.
