Virgil Vasquez held the Royals to two runs over six innings in a 5-3 win on Friday night.
Replacing Ian Snell in the rotation, Vasquez came as advertised, pounding the zone by throwing 66 of 99 pitches for strikes. He allowed just four hits and two walks, with both runs scoring in the second inning. He struck out seven in the win, which is quite a surprise considering he averaged considerably less than a strikeout per inning in the minors. A good first start, but don't get too excited. He's back of the rotation fodder.
