Wesley Wright is hoping to serve as a starter this season for the Astros.
Wright has been used exclusively as a reliever the past two years but he stretched himself out while playing in the Dominican Winter League. "It's exciting," he said Monday. "I'm looking forward to spring training and seeing the possibilities." The left-hander will have to beat out Bud Norris, Felipe Paulino, Yorman Bazardo and Wilton Lopez, among others, for a spot.

Astros activated LHP Wesley Wright from the 15-day disabled list.
Wright has been out of commission since August 12 due to a strained left shoulder. He has a 5.97 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 35/19 K/BB ratio in 33 appearances this season, spanning 31 2/3 innings.

Wesley Wright (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Round Rock.
Wright threw successful bullpen sessions Friday and Sunday. "I bounced back pretty good," he said after his second workout. "I threw my first one Friday, had one day off. I threw 40 pitches, and everything felt good." The left-hander's rehab assignment might only last a week.

Wright hurled about 25 pitches and is expected to do the same on Sunday. If all goes well, he'll begin a short minor league rehab assignment next week. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since August 12.
